Green Window City

Redevelopment on Historic Delaware Avenue
February 8, 2018

How cool is this? Sustainable art built right in windowscapes along Allen Street!

The Green Window City is a community project bringing local artists and business owners together to build installations in shop windows with upcycled materials. This pop-up show will run for three weeks, from Earth Day (5/4/18) through 5/18/18 (begining on First Friday May), increasing community involvement and arts awareness.
Currently, we’re seeking strong installation proposals from artists, great storefronts, and additional partnering organizations. Artists create these installations in individual business owners’ windows; this year in Allentown because of its dense walkability. Over the coming months, artists design a window that speaks to their aesthetic, is cognizant of the business’s audience, and energizes community sustainability. GWC isn’t a for-profit project, but can offers artists a small honorarium and accreditation both on the installation window and any media, including flyers and our site. Really, we’re in this to better our community by encouraging Buffalonians to rethink junk, know their neighborhood artists, and shop local.
